Love Nick Thacker's work. After reading Mark for Blood, I could not wait to get started on Book 2. It did not disappoint! The plot was every bit as good as the first book, and it was like slipping into the most comfortable pair of shoes one owns, reading this book. His characters are always well developed and colorful (understatement). What I like best about this series is the backdrop of the bar. It's a bar I want to visit and those drinks he makes sound amazing. My favorite thrillers are those where I do not see "it" coming and this book was in a class by itself. Well thought out and kept me on the edge of my seat right to the very end.Wish there was a book 3 in the works!!!!!!!!
Mason Dixon, Nick Thacker's latest creation, finds himself yet again involved with criminals, friends and Feds. In some ways, Mason is the south's version of James Bond. He knows his liquor, what he likes, and what his opinion of you is ifYou don't know what you like to drink. As Mason realizes, Morality is like death and neither can be avoided indefinitely. Another page turner, that you should not start if sleep, work or other responsibilities might interfere with your ability to read it start to finish. As the character's in all of Nick Thacker's books develop and you understand how complex they are and what makes them tick, so also do the plots become more complex with excellent evolution. An excellent read!
I love Mason Dixon - so much so that I bought this one before I finished book 1!! This guy is a hoot and the author has a knack for phrasing that will make you laugh. Mason and his pal Joey and up working both sides against the middle in this one. Suffice it to say it comes to a satisfying conclusion. By the way, ignore the reviews complaining about typos or editing.....Amazon pushed the wrong version of the book and Nick expressly warned that they had done so.....So I refuse to hold anything along those lines against him - do yourself a favor and read both books in this great new series.
The second Mason Dixon book is better that the first, if that is possible. Nick Thacker has a knack of drawing the tension out until you just sit straight up in your seat. His descriptions of the boat and the background on Mason Dixon he throws in just enhances the book for me. I love all the drink recipes. This one is a really complicated one and you keep guessing who is on whose side. Sometimes it seems like Mason and Joey don’t even know what side they are on. This just adds to the mystique. Keep this series going Nick. It’s a winner.
Mason DIxon strikes again. The second book in the series is just as good if not better than the first. Nick Thacker has taken his characters to a new level of development. For some it might seem too detailed and too much backstory, but for me it just adds to the flavor of the series. The action is hot, the characters are real (if there are real assassins that is) and the drink recipes add a nice touch. If you like thrillers, if you like Nick Thacker's work, if you like an easy good read..this is for you.
I like Mason Dixon quite a lot. He's a bit of a normal Joe, so that many of us can relate to him better than most of the trained covert government operatives that are the staple of assassin thrillers. Nick Thacker has created a great character and placed him into some interesting situations and locations. I did like the debut Mason Dixon novel (Mark for Blood) a bit better though. This one bogged down a little in the center, I thought. And there were a few issues that could have been fixed with a more thorough editing pass. But overall an enjoyable read and a refreshing take on the genre.
A pretty good standard contract killer (who only kills Nader people) story. It's a decent story about the killer owning his own bar which he was given after his last contract with the govt. Lots of bad guys get their comeuppance after crossing paths with Mason Dixon. A decent boom of this is in good wheelhouse.
I enjoyed this book. Mason Dixon is a modern day bar owner/bartender and aging assassin — or he used to be. Note: he only kills people who need to be killed. This time, the bad guys have Joey’s girlfriend & the other bad guys are threatening to take his bar if he won’t help them. It’s time for a plan.
