I can give Randi one suggestion. Simplify your tale.I enjoyed the story. I thought the original plot was imaginative and offered a lot of opportunity. Unfortunately, while I like the main character and the foundation of the world, the complexity of the plot and all of the intrigue, dynastic politics and build-up to major battles ended up entangling this tale in a web that I'm not sure it can ever get out of.There was just too many factions and too much going on to allow for characters to be fully fleshed out, and when the leaders of other citystates aren't fleshed out the reasons for the fighting and intrigue end up not making sense. It could have been a great tale, but it needed a much tighter plot line. Honestly, this could have been split into 3 books which each section getting much more attention and I probably would have liked it more. Instead, each major conflict received little inspection, as problems would appear and then be solved rapidly so that the hero could ride off to the next crisis.I would have loved to see each crisis take longer but allow the characters to grow.

***** WARNING SOME SPOILERS *****Part of me after reading this book expected to see our new king and his harem continue to not only keep us drawn in their continuing struggle, but also their ever growing family! : )Love the new characters and possible new wives he might have especially Thera, Red, Ramona, Leila, Elysia, Mouth, and even Sam (Would love to see how Vince handles the moment he claims the Dragonnewt, Cursed one and Gnome in the next book). Also appreciate Randi Darren's universe showing whether human or non-human that both use and justify slavery and political intrigue to further their own selfish ends which keeps the story from being one-sided for or against any race. There's also the added question concerning King Vince's parent's past, the pocket dimension he came across, and the possible truth about the Emperor's possible secret!Add to the fact that Vince has now expanded the kingdom Yosemite with new allies and making new enemies on both sides then this book makes you want to immediately read the third chapter of this series as soon as it is out!A must read for true fans of Randi Darren's books!!!

I feel like I waited forever for this second book to come out and it has been worth it. These books have brought back memories of Richard Blade a English super spy and rogue who always got the girl except Vince gets all the girls and does it in a very real way. I love everything about this series so far. I hope the next one comes out soon. Thank you so much for letting me enjoy the world you created I've even lost sleep wanting to know what happened next. I find you rank right up there with Bullion, Simon green and may other top notched authors. Please don't wait to long for book number three

I must say that I like the first book more, but I believe the author did a great job bringing this one to life. Overall I loved 90% of this book, the other 10% was still good though I was in a big fan of it. Such as Vince getting a lot more angrier than he did in the first book. I liked how cool and calm he was in the first book, in this one he wasn't as much. I feel that the author should have talked more about Fes's family more, getting to see her mother and grandmother and her sister. But I give it five stars because even though I didn't fully like that 10% I still like it.

I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as the first. Vince was a free spirit in the first book. Traveling around doing his own thing. Now he has a bunch of responsibilities, he is trying to hold his kingdom together, he has kids to worry about and overall is full of self-doubt and just...ugh. Such a different tone from the first book. But I am still giving it 4 stars because I did enjoy it. Many of the characters remain interesting to me, Red and Mouth made me laugh. The elven girls that hold everything together are quite good.I enjoyed the parts where the group was traveling around the most, the beastmen scouts were cool.I hope the author can recapture some of the tone of the original book in the next one.

This book is terrible... in that it's going to make me wait since the next book in the series isn't out yet! Seriously, it's a great read, and I can't wait for the next one - not because the author did something cheesy like leave us with a cliff hanger - but for all the right reasons, because the author has created a vibrant world filled with interesting characters. A world we can still recognize no less.I'll certainly be picking up the next book in this series and I highly recommend it as a whole.

Randi Darren is fantastic at world building and getting you in touch with the characters (usually). The characters you're supposed to know, you know, but there are plenty that are little more than names.I enjoyed the story because it's more than "MC smash all enemies!" There's a lot of conflict with the character internally as well as externally. Makes for an interesting read. One of my favorite things is the universe that Randi and William D Arand have set up and are connecting. Two amazing authors working in a shared universe? So exited to read all the stories and how they'll meet in the middle!

If you liked Wild Waste book one, you will love book two, Eastern Expansion. More, bigger and better. Vince, the main character is great, and he has a wonderfully interesting and (many times) funny supporting cast. Randi Darren rates up there with Elliott Kay, D. R. Rosier and E. William Brown. It's a shame the third book is six months away.
